Terbinafine Tablets IP – Terbinafine Tablets 250 mg belongs to a group of medicines called antifungals. It is used to treat a wide range of fungal infections of the scalp, body, skin and nails (fingernails) and (toenails) including ringworm. It kills the fungi that are mainly responsible for causing the infection. 

How do Terbichem-250 Tablets work?

Terbichem-250 tablets contain terbinafine hydrochloride, an antifungal medicine that fights fungal infections of the skin and nails. Terbinafine works by blocking an infection-causing enzyme that is crucial in the production of ergosterol, a key component of fungal cell membranes. By inhibiting this enzyme, terbinafine destroys the integrity of the fungal cell membrane, weakens it, and ultimately leads to the death of the fungus.

Terbichem-250 tablets are prescribed for diseases such as athlete’s foot, itch, and finger and nail fungus. Treatment usually lasts several weeks to months, depending on the severity and location of the infection.

Uses of Terbinafine Tablets

• Fungal Nail Infections: Terbinafine is often prescribed to treat fungal infections of the toenails or fingernails (onychomycosis). It helps in clearing up the infection and promoting the growth of healthy nails.

• Jock Itch: Another fungal infection that terbinafine can treat is jock itch (tinea cruris), which affects the groin and inner thigh area.
• Other Fungal Infections: Terbinafine works by stopping the growth of fungi. It is usually taken orally as tablets, and the duration of treatment can vary depending on the severity and type of fungal skin infections.
